NEWS! South Carolina Climate, Energy & Commerce Advisory Committee releases final report. To see the report, click here. Recognizing the implications that global climate change may have on the economy, environment and quality of life in South Carolina, Governor Sanford issued Executive Order 2007-04 on February 16, 2007, establishing the South Carolina Climate, Energy & Commerce Advisory Committee (CECAC). The Committee was made up of members representing a broad range of stakeholders including: industry, environmental groups, government agencies, academic institutions, agriculture, forestry, coastal interests, real estate, tourism, banking, insurance and other sectors. The non-profit Center for Climate Strategies (www.climatestrategies.us) will provide facilitation and technical support. At the time of the Executive Order, Governor Sanford appointed these representatives to the CECAC: Lonnie Carter, Moncks Corner, President and CEO of Santee Cooper; Bill Timmerman, Columbia, CEO of SCANA; Dana Beach, Charleston, Executive Director of the Coastal Conservation League; Reggie Gallant, Columbia, Southern Zone VP of State Farm; Barry Falin, Columbia, VP and General Manager for Carolina Operations of Voridian; Dr. Marcus Newberry, Greenville, former dean of the MUSC College of Medicine; Ladd Hall, Berkeley, VP and General Manager of Nucor Steel; and Representative Ben Hagood of Sullivan's Island. The CECAC has been expanded by the Governor to include a total of 30 representatives from various stake-holding groups; click here to view all of the CECAC members.
